Maybe you’re here because…
You got one symptom under control, only for another to pop up (e.g. stopped restricting, then started purging)
People have started to notice (e.g. watching meals, asking you about it)
Goals seem out of reach because of your ED (e.g. college, career, being more social, kids)
Extra stress tipped the scale from "managing" to "I need help" (e.g. school stress, moving to NYC, a breakup, a job change, perimenopause)
How an eating disorder therapist helps
✔️ Figure out what’s driving the eating disorder, so you can address the root
✔️ Rebuild your self-worth, so you feel capable and worthy of recovery
✔️ See your patterns without shame, so you can move toward change
✔️ Coordinate with (or recommend if needed) local NYC treatment professionals
✔️ Process your feelings about your ED and recovery with someone who understands
✔️ Help you maintain your relationships (with parents or partners) while you recover
Am I the right eating disorder therapist for you?
Yes, if you’re looking for…
✔ Root-cause work (not just managing behaviors)
✔ Extensive ED experience (my clinical background is in an ED treatment center)
✔ An honest, direct approach (no clinical jargon)
✔ Someone who gets the pressure of living in NYC (the stress is higher here)
✔ Experience with girls, teens, or women

More about me
Hello, I’m Jennifer Warpool, MA, LCAT, ATR-BC, a licensed eating disorder therapist for NYC
New York is a great city, but living here comes with high stakes and lots of pressure.
Fast-paced careers, a culture of perfectionism (especially when it comes to women’s bodies), and a social scene that makes “having it all together” feel like a requirement.
All this triggers stress, which makes eating disorder symptoms worse.
That’s why my approach doesn’t give you another “thing to manage.” It’s about treating you, the person who developed an eating disorder, not just the disorder itself.
What I’m asked most often
-
All virtual sessions take place via a HIPAA-compliant video platform, so whether you're in the city, or anywhere else in New York or CT, getting started is straightforward.
Most of my NYC-based clients choose to see me virtually, but you’re welcome to visit me in person in Greenwich, CT, and I plan to open a Manhattan office in the future. -
Yes. Research consistently supports the effectiveness of telehealth for eating disorder treatment.
It can also be helpful to do sessions from home, where you have access to your kitchen and food for meal support, exposures, and food trials.
-
I strongly recommend looking for a licensed therapist like me, with specific training and hands-on experience in eating disorder treatment, not just general mental health counseling.
I spent years working in a residential eating disorder treatment program before opening my private practice, and I bring that specialized clinical background to every client.
-
Yes, I am. The best way to find out if it's a good fit is to schedule a complimentary consultation.
-
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. Depending on your plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance provider (contact your provider to find out).
My rates are $250 per 50-minute session.
-
It depends. Some clients meet twice weekly, others once a week.
Frequency can shift over time depending on where you are in your recovery, what else is going on in your life, and what we decide together makes sense.
-
I draw from many modalities depending on what I think each person needs, or once we see what each person is responding to. I’m trained in the following approaches:
Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)
Art Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Family
Humanistic
Interpersonal
Person-Centered
Positive Psychology
Strength-Based
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
-
Absolutely! I work with kids as young as nine and have extensive experience helping teenagers recover from eating disorders.
-
Yes, my adult clients are women from their early 20s through their 70s.
-
The first session is about getting to know each other. I will ask about what's brought you in, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping for. It's also a chance for you to get a feel for my approach.
There's no pressure to share everything right away. Building trust takes time. But by the end of our first call, you’ll have a clearer sense of whether it feels like the right fit and what working together might look like.
-
Sessions are collaborative. I ask you questions, listen, may challenge you when needed, and celebrate your progress along the way. Clients tell me they stick with therapy because they feel genuinely heard and understood, without judgment.
-
Yes, I have experience treating a range of eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID, and orthorexia.
-
Yes, I currently have an office in Greenwich, CT and I’m planning to open an in-person NYC office in Manhattan.
