THERAPIST FOR GIRLS & WOMEN IN CT & NY

Capable. Smart. Driven. Hard on yourself.

Maybe your inner voice has always been your motivator to perform well.

But sometimes this voice becomes the opposite, beating you up so much that you’re anxious all the time or filled with self-doubt, burnout, or overwhelm.

And in some cases, the voice can spiral into behaviors like isolation, avoidance, and disordered eating.

Whatever you’re going through, I’m here to help you rebuild your confidence, sense of self, and stability.

Hello, I’m Jennifer.

I’m a therapist who helps girls and women struggling with a harsh inner voice move from self-doubt to solid ground.

Most of my clients come to me for one (or a combo) of the following

  • Eating Disorders

For years, I was a clinician in a residential eating disorder treatment center, and know how difficult healing and recovery can be. I'd love to help you figure out a plan for recovery that works for you.

  • Teenage Anxiety and Depression

Sure, lots of people get anxious or feel down. But if your bad mood has started to never go away, affects your grades or test performance, or makes you afraid to do things you otherwise would want to (like social stuff or tryouts)… therapy is the next right move.

  • Career Challenges

When work stress is overwhelming, you can’t balance work and life, or you’re staring down the barrel of a big career change, therapy helps.

I’ll work with you to navigate what you’re going through, so you can make clearheaded decisions.

  • Parent Coaching

As your child gets expert help for disordered eating, anxiety, obsessive thinking, or other mental health challenges, you may be wondering, “How do I make sure I don’t make it worse? How do I help them?”

I’m here to coach you on how to support your child through this so their healing continues at home.

  • Perimenopause and Menopause

No one tells you about this part, the mental health toll that perimenopause and menopause take.

“Feeling crazy,” wondering if you’re losing yourself forever, or struggling with body image are really common. I’m here to help you recenter mentally and emotionally, and carve out your identity amid this change.

About me

For two decades, I worked my way into an executive role in marketing. I was good at it, but… I wasn’t fulfilled.

When I got honest about the parts of my job that I did love, one element stood out: mentorship. I lived for mentoring the other women in my organization, helping them navigate their early career and life.

So eventually, I made a big scary leap and changed careers, becoming a therapist and finding my sweet spot working with girls and women whose high expectations have curdled from “intrinsic motivation” to “severe inner critic” and landed them in emotional turmoil.

For many of my clients, this shows up as intense anxiety, never-ending stress, or imposter syndrome. For others, it shows up as a full-blown eating disorder or depression.

The greatest joy in my work is seeing a client find her way back to stability, confidence, and happiness — because I viscerally remember what it was like to not have that, and I’m so grateful to have it now.

Book a complimentary 15-minute consult

You can read all you want about me, but you probably won’t know if we “click” until we talk.

I’ll share about my approach and ask you some basic questions about what you’re going through. At the end, you decide whether to book a therapy session in-person or online in Connecticut and New York.

I’m excited to meet you.

What I get asked most often

  • Sessions are $250 per 50-minute session.

  • No, I am an out-of-network therapist in CT and NY. This is an intentional choice to allow for flexibility in how we work together, without the restrictions of insurance requirements.

However, I can provide you with a detailed monthly bill, which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

  • I draw from many modalities depending on what each person needs and is responding to. I’m trained in the following approaches:

    • Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)

    • Art Therapy

    • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

    • Cognitive Processing (CPT)

    • Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

    • Humanistic

    • Interpersonal

    • Person-Centered

    • Positive Psychology

    • Strength-Based

    • Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Kind of like friendships, there’s no black-and-white answer on whether we’ll be a fit, so I encourage you to book a complimentary 15-minute consultation where we can talk and make that decision together!

Generally, I work well with women and girls who are struggling with a harsh inner critic – often manifesting as disordered eating, anxiety, depression, and imposter syndrome. Additionally, I help women navigate through perimenopause/menopause.

  • Great question! I’ll take the lead by asking you what brings you to therapy, and then I’ll explain about my approach and next steps. You can ask me anything you want, and at the end, I’ll ask if you want to book your first session.

There are no hard feelings if you’re not sure — you can just say, “I want to think about it more,” and we’ll leave it at that. If you do want to try a session, you choose virtual or in-person and then select from my next available time slots.

  • Think of our first therapy session as an intake and assessment, but in a conversational, not clinical, way. I’ll ask you some questions about what you’re going through, and at the end, I’ll tell you what I think our therapeutic approach should be and ask for your feedback. You will be an active participant in the process.

  • First and foremost: nonjudgmental. If you ever feel worse after sharing something, I haven’t done my job!

Secondly, clients tell me I’m direct but kind. I won’t sugarcoat or tell you to think positively, but I also won’t just be a sounding board that validates every thought, because sometimes our thoughts need to be challenged and reframed so we can move forward.

  • Yes! I have extensive experiences with all types of eating disorders, from anorexia to binge eating to ARFID. I am also skilled at collaborating with your other support systems, like doctors, dieticians, and psychiatrists.

As an outpatient therapist in CT and NY, I will tell you after your first session if your symptoms require more intensive care than I alone can offer, like an eating disorder treatment center, and I can even recommend some great centers if needed.

  • Yes, I do! I’m a licensed therapist in CT and NY, and can see clients anywhere in Connecticut and New York state in virtual sessions.
